September

PTA's first meeting of the 2014-15 school year was held on September 13 at 9:30 a.m. in the Reading Room.

October

PTA's second meeting of the 2014-15 school year was held on October 9 at 7 p.m. in the library. We discussed the great success of our Boosterthon fundraiser, upcoming October testing, upcoming important calendar dates, the SCA Food Drive, the current Treasurer's Report and upcoming deadlines for PTA Programs. We voted to open the Wish Fund Program for the first time ever at Mantua ES and decided on a deadline for applications of Friday, October 31, at noon. Sally Smallwood of the Safe Routes to School Program spoke. Minutes will be voted upon by members at November's meeting.

November

PTA's third meeting of the 2014-15 school year was called to order on November 14. Our members in attendance voted to approve October's meeting minutes. The following topics, among others, were covered: recent updates to the financial report, which includes our profit of almost $40,000 from Boosterthon and $2,300 from sponsorships and Friends of Rocky (Go Mantua!); the many activities Mantua students and staff have been participating in, to include a meeting of the Mantua Steering Committee to review our School Improvement Plan; completed and upcoming testing; the new Kiss and Ride procedure; upcoming Drama productions, Winter Enrichment registration and Mantua Talent Show; Yearbook Club and yearbook sales; school directories; upcoming fundraisers, such as our click-through partners which can be accessed through our website and upcoming events with Barnes & Noble and 5-Below!

December

No meeting is scheduled for December due to the holidays.

January

PTA's fourth meeting of the 2014-15 school year was called to order on January 9. Our members in attendance voted to approve November's meeting minutes. The following topics, among others, were covered: snow decisions and FCPS's apology for a "bad call" on Tuesday; the proposed budget being put forth by Dr. Garza this week, which includes a step increase and a 1% COLA increase, the first COLA increase in a number of years; the new way that FCPS is looking at scores of the CogAt and Naeglieri tests for the AAP pool; upcoming by-laws revisions and a call for volunteers interested in serving on that committee; treasurer's report; the Talent Show; Enrichment; a number of fundraising events that were held in December and others that are coming soon.

February

PTA's fifth meeting of the 2014-15 school year was called to order on February 12. Our members in attendance voted to approve January's meeting minutes. The following topics, among others, were covered: draft by-laws, which include only one change for the number of terms a Treasurer may serve and will be put to the vote at our March meeting (click HERE to review the draft and direct any questions to Julie); current happenings at Mantua; upcoming VP1 community events like Spring Enrichment registration; VP2's Spring Fling report (our second largest fundraiser); new ideas for increasing PTA membership. March

PTA's sixth meeting of the 2014-15 school year was called to order on March 13 at 9:30 a.m. in the cafeteria.

April

PTA's seventh meeting of the 2014-15 school year was called to order on April 9 at 7 p.m. in the library.

May

Our eighth meeting of the 2014-15 school year was called to order on May 8 at 9:30 a.m., location TBD.

June

PTA's ninth and final meeting of the 2014-15 school year is scheduled for June 4 at 7 p.m. in the library.
